Mace Sustain has launched a free English for Speakers of other Languages (ESoL) training programme for migrant workers employed on London construction sites.
The nationally recognised qualification is designed to ensure migrant construction workers have a sufficient grasp of English to comply with health and safety regulations on site.
Mace Sustain community regeneration manager Gez Carr said: "By improving communication between migrant and domestic site operatives, site management will achieve safer working environments and increased productivity."
Funded by the London Development Agency and the European Social Fund, the ESoL programme is currently being delivered by Mace Sustain and its partner, the National Construction College across a range of London projects.
The programme has supported 80 workers since its launch earlier this year.
